About
As a trained marine & civil engineer John J Bassadone established his company Gibunco over 45 years ago and specialised in providing underwater cleaning and maritime engineering services in the straits of Gibraltar.
He rapidly recognised the potential for expanding the companies services to offer bunkering and before long had exponentially increased the jurisdictions operations. When the company partnered with Cepsa they became the largest importer and distributor of marine fuels to vessels travelling in the Straits and the East Atlantic.
The operation grew once again and in 1997 John formed Peninsula Petroleum and became a major bunkering and lubricant supplier in Ceuta, the Canary Islands and Panama with global trade offices worldwide. Today Gibunco has interests in oil & energy supply, shipping, maritime engineering, logistics, real estate and property development.
